For the LSA, the grace, flexibility, and complexity of the willow tree have come to represent the qualities people develop as they meet the challenges posed by lupus.

Just thinking about the beauty and endurance of the willow - bending but not breaking in the face of strong winds - can be an empowering image for those whose lives are affected by lupus.

Lupus is called 'the disease with a thousand faces' because the symptoms and course of the disease differ so much from person to person. Lupus affects people of all ages, genders and ethnic backgrounds.

Any face could be the face of lupus.

LSA CASINO - This is a fun two day casino event that you won't want to miss.

The event is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers headed by Barbara Manly, our long-term Casino General Manager.

The Lupus Society of Alberta has accessed funding through a casino license with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) for many years and is eligible for a casino license once every 16 months, on average. The funds generated by the casino are a major source of revenue for LSA programs and services. (See: Revenue / Expenditure charts)
